The Famyuni project

Nicolas Vigny

My name is Nicolas Vigny. I have worked in communications for around ten years and have already had the opportunity to create small-scale digital projects. This experience gave me a taste for building practical tools designed around the people who use them. Drawing on that experience, and without claiming to be an expert in every aspect of family caring, I began to imagine Famyuni.

I discovered the situation of family carers while working for a social security scheme. As I learned more, I also realised that there were carers around me without my truly understanding what they did every day. Their help was there, sometimes essential, but often barely visible.

I then began reading studies and looking more closely at this issue. In Europe, and particularly in France, the population is ageing. More and more families will need to find their own way of organising support for a loved one who needs help. There are already many carers. Behind this reality lie questions of time, fatigue, health and everyone’s place within the family. I am convinced that this issue will become increasingly important in our society and that solutions must emerge to support those affected.

I wondered what I could contribute, at my own level, with my skills. Gradually, an idea took shape: create a shared space where family members could come together around a loved one receiving care, see what is being done, organise themselves better and each find their own way of taking part or supporting others. That is how the Famyuni project began.

I started thinking about it and working on it in mid-2025. Since then, the challenge guiding me has been simple to describe, although demanding to meet: build an intuitive platform that is easy to use and truly useful in family life. It must adapt to different circumstances without judging people or assuming that everyone can help in the same way.

I know that a platform will not solve every difficulty faced by carers and their families. But I sincerely believe it can help make caring more visible, make conversations easier and allow everyone to find their place. In my view, this project deserves to be tried.

The next steps will be shaped by contact with the people who live through these situations. By offering Famyuni to families, listening to them and observing what really helps them, I will be able to find out whether this idea meets a real need and keep improving it. They will be the ones to judge its usefulness.
